2006 vs. 2016

In 2006, I was a senior in high school and drawing a lot of classic movie actors, like the Marx Brothers, Russ Tamblyn, and Debbie Reynolds. I was also just starting to transition from a flat, simplistic color style to a more rich, painterly one, though I went about it much more laboriously than I do now. Sometimes I think that simpler style kept my pieces lighter and more spirited, but I know I've got a much better grasp on color palettes and light value now. 2016 was the Year of Woodwalker and Learning About Bounce Light... what will 2017 bring?

Woodwalker  is published by Harper Voyager, an imprint of HarperCollins. It can be found on most book retailer websites or by requesting through your local library or bookstore. Its sequel, Ashes to Fire, will be released in early 2017.
