Everyone should do speedpaints for therapy.
I once had a blind person feel my face to "see" what I looked like, and it was really cool. I just wanted to draw Toph looking at someone, who turned out to be Sokka, which then turned into some kind of intimate moment between the two. I'm not really a shipper of anybody in Avatar, but I think they'd be cool together, esp if Azula bumped Suki off. (Wouldn't that suck for Sokka? Two girlfriends nixed in like three months)
Yeah, and then it got too lovey for me and the little doodle comic in the corner came out.

This is so cute! I agree, I rarely ship Avatar characters so I appreciate the goofiness in the corner ruining the potentially romantic moment.

I like Sokka's hands--that open hand makes me think he was caught by surprise when Toph started randomly feeling his face, or maybe it's just an involuntary movement in the middle of the face-feeling. He could be thinking, Hmm. Having my face groped. Kind of awkward. Or, his overall expression could reflect, like you said, a sudden feeling of...something. Maybe that open hand is even an impulse to touch her face.

Yah, I'm reading waaay into this, aren't I?
