Fairies of the US- the Pacific Northwest

Part of a series of illustrations for my daughter's nursery. Pen and colored pencil on cardstock.

Normally when I think of personifying the PNW, I think more regal and stoic, but those iterations felt too stiff to me. So I went for a cozier, softer feel. And the carpenter ant? Definitely the hardest insect to make look cute.
